A 27-year-old man, Kenneth Abatai Handsome, has been accused of sexual assault, kidnapping, and robberies in Lagos and Abuja through Tinder.
Kenneth allegedly posed as a wealthy suitor, even paying for flights to lure victims. Survivors said he raped, robbed, and left them with life-threatening injuries. One video shows a victim in a wheelchair after being stabbed.
“He lures victims to hotels under false. Once there, he rapes them, steals their belongings, empties their accounts, and brutalises them. Many victims have been left traumatised and scarredfor life,” a survivor said.
Despite multiple arrests, including in November 2024, he was mysteriously freed. Victims allege lawyers and police officers at Lagos Command aided his release.
Motunrayo, one victim, said: “They raped me. Kenneth was the one who did it.” She recalled being ambushed, chained, and blindfolded before escaping. “In February, a friend told me she saw him on Tinder. I was shocked… The judge even warned us that if we see him outside, we should run because he is dangerous.”
Another survivor, Jetty, recounted: “I swear to God, I don’t even know where to start. I’m really crying now… I used my own phone and money to order a ride to a place where they raped me, robbed me, stabbed me, and took all my belongings… I wouldn’t wish what I went through in that room on even my enemies.”
A lawyer confirmed Justice Oyindamola Ogala granted Kenneth bail on May 11, saying, “Yes, it was a shock to everybody.”
Victims and their lawyer are now calling for his re-arrest, warning he remains a danger to society.
