The Power of a Small Yes

Tunde was the type of man who always said “no.” Not because he didn’t want good things, but because fear lived in his heart. Friends would invite him to try new restaurants, join in weekend road trips, or even speak at small community events, but his answer was always the same: “No, maybe next time.”

One evening, while scrolling through his phone, he stumbled on a simple quote:

“Your life changes the moment you say yes to something that scares you.”

He laughed at first, but the words stayed with him. The very next day, a colleague invited him to a poetry night at a café. He almost said no out of habit, but instead whispered, “Yes.”

That small yes changed everything.

At the poetry night, he listened to words that awakened something inside him. He met people who saw the world differently. He even signed up to read one of his own poems—a piece he had been hiding in his notebook for months. His voice trembled, his palms sweated, but when the audience clapped, he realized he had just broken free from a cage he built for himself.

From then on, Tunde didn’t say yes to everything blindly, but he said yes to the things that pushed him forward. Each “yes” became a key, unlocking doors he never knew existed.

✨ Lesson: A single “yes” can turn your whole story around. Sometimes courage is just one word.
